St. Clement's School Admissions Requirements
Toronto, Ontario
Entry Requirements by Grade
St. Clement's School accepts applications from Grades 1 through 12. Its current admissions information does not designate a small group of grades as official "major entry years." Instead, the assessment process is divided primarily between Grades 1 to 6 and Grades 7 to 12.
| Entry Level | Assessment | Other Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Grades 1 to 6 | Grade-level literacy and numeracy assessment plus small-group activity | Personal interview and school records |
| Grades 7 to 12 | School entrance assessment | Personal interview and school records |
| Grades 7 to 12, out-of-province | SSAT or ISEE | Virtual interview available |
Entrance Assessment
Applicants to Grades 1 through 6 complete an assessment covering grade-level literacy and numeracy expectations, together with a small-group activity. St. Clement's states that additional preparation is not required because the assessment is appropriate to the student's current grade.
Applicants to Grades 7 through 12 complete an entrance assessment. St. Clement's does not publish a detailed syllabus, question format, test length or sample test for this assessment on its current admissions page.
Out-of-province applicants to Grades 7 through 12 are required to write the SSAT or ISEE instead.
Admissions Process
The application requires a recent photograph, school reports from previous years, identification, and educational assessments or IEPs where applicable.
All applicants also complete a personal interview. Applicants to Grades 1 through 3 are interviewed with their parents. Applicants to Grades 4 through 12 begin with a one-on-one student interview, after which parents are invited to join.
Key Insights
St. Clement's uses two broad assessment models. Younger applicants are explicitly assessed on literacy and numeracy and participate in a small-group activity, while Grades 7 through 12 complete a separate entrance assessment.
The school does not publicly disclose the detailed content of its Grades 7 to 12 entrance assessment. This is an important distinction when developing preparation materials because the official source does not support claims about specific subjects or question types.
Out-of-province applicants follow a different testing route. Grades 7 through 12 applicants outside Ontario are required to submit an SSAT or ISEE rather than complete the school's regular entrance assessment.
