Entrance Assessment

Ridley's current public admissions requirements do not list the SSAT or a Ridley-created academic entrance test as a standard requirement for general applicants.

Instead, Ridley's application places emphasis on the student's academic record, essay, recommendations and required admissions interview.

Students whose first language is not English may be asked to provide English-language proficiency results from assessments such as IELTS, Duolingo or TOEFL.

Admissions Process

Applicants submit:

After the initial application is submitted, families receive an application checklist and schedule the required admissions interview.

Ridley describes its review as holistic, considering recommendations, character and the student's potential to contribute to the wider school experience in addition to academics.

Key Insights

Ridley does not publicly require a standard academic entrance exam for general applicants. Its admissions process is driven more heavily by academic history, recommendations, the student essay and interview.

Recommendations become more extensive beginning in Grade 5. Grades 5 through 12 and postgraduate applicants submit both an academic recommendation and a character recommendation.

Boarding begins in Grade 7. Students can board in Grades 7 through 12, while younger students attend as day students.

Day-student eligibility is geographically restricted. Ridley generally requires day families to reside within 50 km of campus unless an exemption is approved.
