Entry Requirements by Grade
TFS accepts applications from its early-years program through Grade 12 and does not identify a small group of grades as universal "major entry years" in its published admissions materials. The assessment process is organized into age and grade groups.
An especially important entry point is Grade 7, because students with little or no previous French can enter TFS up to and including Grade 7 through the school's Introductory French program. Applicants entering Grade 8 or above generally need the French ability required to join the regular bilingual program.

Entrance Assessment
Applicants in Grades 2 through 5 participate in a group assessment covering math, English and French where applicable.
Applicants in Grades 6 through 12 participate in a group assessment that includes math, English and an activity. Applicants also complete an online French assessment at home where applicable.
TFS does not publish a detailed topic-by-topic syllabus, number of questions or full practice test on its public admissions page.
The school specifically states that it does not recommend studying or tutoring for the entrance assessment, because its goal is to determine whether TFS is an appropriate fit for the applicant.
Admissions Process
Applicants complete an online application and the appropriate assessment for their grade group.
For Grades 6 through 12, candidates who meet the admissions requirements participate in the group assessment, after which selected candidates are invited to a virtual student and parent interview.
French proficiency requirements depend strongly on entry grade. Students with little or no French can enter the school's Introductory French program through Grade 7. Bilingual students can apply at later grade levels as well.
